hello everyone.

F# interactive mode and script file are very interesting components of the F# runtime and I was wondering if we could use them some of these two interesting scenarios:

1: use fsx script files as configuration files and load them dynamically. I tried #load directive but unfortunately it won't work for .fs file which is where I'd like to. Is there anyway to load and run fsx script files from compiled code?

2: load script and having interactive returning them as expression trees.

Actually my current need is the first but it reminded me of the second question that I had few months earlier.

The answer to the first question is that it's possible but it's not straight forward. You basically have to load the script compile it to an assembly then dynamically load the assembly.

Fake does something similar, so you might want to take a look at there implementation:

For the second question, I think Don told me about a new way to get "what the compiler" for an assembly. I think this might be the new Fsharp.PowerPack.MetaData. Again works with an assembly rather than a script, which is annoying but workable. See:
