In both cases those parentheses are optional; there is no link.

Thanks Brian,

Checked out your link, and bookmarked your web-log (just hate the usual term).

As the parentheses are an option in both cases, I'll have to think about using them consistently in one or the other, neither or both - as long as I don't get in the habit of just using the right or the left!

I noticed some syntax changes were made for the latest CTP. Do you expect more before the VS 2010 release?

Still wondering if there's some sort of conceptual link; but it's not important enough to mount an intellectual safari.

I think people usually include the parens in both cases in most scenarios. (While you don't want to litter your code with needless parens, a few well-chosen unnecessary sets of parens can make code more readable.)

In general, historically there have been a number of changes between CTPs/Betas... there will still be some changes in the VS2010 release, but the delta this time will be much smaller than it has been the last few cycles. The language as it stands in OctoberCTP/Beta2 is very nearly complete/final.

Hi Brian,

Thanks. I think I stumbled upon F# at a good time - after others have smoothed over most of the rough edges.
