I presume you are on Vista with Vista SP1.
Unfortunately this is a known issue with VS2008 on Vista SP1; you can read more about it here
and (as you see) we're fixing it in VS2010, but there's no workaround on VS2008 on Vista SP1 (other than to avoid interactions that trigger the bug).
Actually I'm on 7 RC, where I was also running the Sep CTP. I didn't get any crashes with the Sep CTP, but then I can't say for sure that I ever did the same things to trigger it.

I can trivially get VS to crash by opening the Object Browser and expanding FSharp.Core->Microsoft.FSharp.Core:
