Once the shell is installed, install F# (the plugin installation is automated by InstallFSharp.msi)

Hope this helps

Julien,

Thank you for replying.

I have also read what you said to do elsewhere, and I have done exactly that several times while holding my mouth differently each time ;-), yet I do not see any F#-related Visual-Studio-like links or buttons to click anywhere. What should I expect to see as indication that I have succeeded in doing what you say?

Thanks,

mark

After you install the shell, there should be a 'Microsoft Visual Studio 2008' entry under the programs in the windows 'start' menu. Once that step is done, then after you InstallFSharp.msi and start up Visual Studio, then 'New project' should show F# on the list.

One possible place to trip up is this: when you download the shell, I think it sometimes does something ridiculous like just drop an installer .exe on your disk. So after 'installing the shell' you may have to run

"C:\VS 2008 Shell Redist\Integrated Mode\vsside.enu.exe"

to <i>actually<i> install it.

That did the trick. Thanks!
