in F# (with #light option declared) indentation is an element of the syntax.

So smart indentation might be a bit problematic (just delete every { and } out of your C# code - how should the compiler/editor know where to indent or even replace them?).

Normaly you go to your settings and tell VS for F# to replace <tab> with 2 or 3 space characters and then the editor works reasonably fine (you might need to tweak a bit from time to time but it's not big deal at all).

You can only have smart indentation without #light. It should not be too hard as long as the code was parsed, tuareg does this.
