Hi all

Lets say i have a string "COLIN". The numeric value of this string would is worth 3 + 15 + 12 + 9 + 14 = 53.

I'd like to do this the functional way, rather then looping and creating variables.. Is there a way to do that?

  name.ToString().ToCharArray()
  |> Seq.length 

is all that i have right now (the length tells me yes, its split properly for testing purposes)

I got the following to work, but its a bit hackish (uses the ascii value of the char)
