The CTP release needs Mono 2.0 which isn't yet available for Ubuntu. Mono 2.0 will be included in Jaunty and i think i've read that they will also backport it to 8.04 because it is an LTS release but i'm not sure.

Thanks for reply. I thought I have Mono 2.0 but it seems I was mistaken.

It is possible to build the latest Mono release on Ubuntu from the source code.

I've done it twice in the past 6 months, but it is a bit tricky to locate all the proper dependency packages. Too bad I didn't keep notes.

Thanks for information. I will try to compile it from sources or return to OCaml till thinks get better.

For those of you that are using Ubuntu 8.04 or 8.10 there's a Mono-Edge PPA (Personal Packaging Archive)
available for the latest and greatest mono:

[link:launchpad.net]

For example, for hardy (8.04) you can add the following lines to your /etc/apt/souces.list:

deb [link:ppa.launchpad.net] hardy main
deb-src [link:ppa.launchpad.net] hardy mainAnd issue:
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get upgrade

I've now noticed that the mono-edge PPA is now in process to move into Mono 2.2, so there is no "working" mono there, but I assume this will "fix itself" very soon...
