This would be a version issue. Seq was cleaned up with the CTP release.

One thing I hadn't noticed before is, in the foreword of Foundations of F#, it says "Robert's book describes F# 2.0, the latest release of the language at the time of writing".

So you'll just have to download F# 2.0, and all examples should be fine ; )

You're better off using the "for x in collection" syntax when working with untyped listed, which is why they have been clean up. I think I say that in the book. Don wrote the forward so ask him were to download version 2.0 ;)

Cheers,

Rob

Thank you all for the responses.I have taken note of the advisories. Thanks. I was chiefly concerned at this point whether I had messed up the 1.9.6 install.fwiw, I first ran across this issue while working a sample from the Expert F# book (Mandelbrot), which was purportedly built with 1.9.2. In that build, these functions are defined in ienumerable.fs, which appears to have been revised/removed from 1.9.6. I only mention it in case another newbie runs into it.
I appreciate the help very much. Thanks again.
