It behaves like a v.Now with get() = ... because it is a v.Now with get() = ..., as is v.Birthday. In the definition if timeline there is no way you can meaningfully have an abstract field in .NET, so it used as a short hand for a property with just a get. You can use reflector [1] to check this if you like.
