The client code looks fine, I think the problem lies in the server. What server is listening on localhost port 9000? Is it a custom app you've written your self (in which case we probably need to see the code to that too to debug the problem) or is it an existing application?

Each time I send a message however, the NetworkStream is closed even though I need it to remain open. Any suggestions?
