At the risk of stating the obvious, the profiling tools in Visual Studio 2010 are great; I've used them for both CPU profiling and memory profiling of F# apps and they're extremely useful and easy to use. You can use the VS2010RC for free for a while yet, if 'no cost' is an important factor. :)
yes, of course! the VS 2010 profiling tools are great indeed! but they are not included in the professional version. and as we dont need any other features of the premium version, 5000$ for a profiler is not an option. ;)

just wanted to point out that there is the free:
which works best for me. it can even profile a single .dll loaded from another app with the 'take snapshot' button.
they also have a tracer, which i have not tested yet.

Being a total skinflint (or more accurately not wanting to spend £500 on msdev professional) I've been using the CLR profiler tool from the msdn. Unfortunately it's quite good a everything except detailed time profiling.
That said I actually think a callgraph with numbers of calls (which it has) is probably a more useful thing in functional languages anyway.

Hi guys,
Does anyone have any recommendations regarding time-profiling F# code? I've been using ANTS for my C# work, but for some F# programs it crashes (the ANTS people don't have any easy answers to this). Thus, I'd like to know if you know of any profilers that have worked well for you with F# code.
