As of F# 1.1.7.x, the standard F# distribution contains the entire source code for F#, AbsIL and ILx. This means that you have a great place to browse a big repository of code by the F# team and the corresponding codebases for ML and OCaml distributions. While this may not represent "an exact match of something that you may be looking to find", there is nonetheless, a big, old base of code there.

Additionally, with the source, you can actually rebuild F# from the ground up. Here are the basic steps to follow:

Create a new target directory for the build (we'll call this fsNEW). Change directory to your standard F# installation directory. Copy the source directory from the F# distribution to fsNEW. Additionally, copy the bin directory from the F# distribution to fsNEW. Be certain that bin and source are sibling directories under fsNEW. The bin directory is needed for fsyacc and other executables during the build process and may be removed once the build is complete.

To build F#, use NMake. Specifically, open a "Visual Studio 2005 Command Prompt" session. Change directory to fsNew\source. Then enter "nmake all". On my machine and during my tests, the last three targets of "all", bin\resxc.exe, bin\fslex.exe and bin\fsyacc.exe did not build. To manually build those (if they don't build for you as well), enter "nmake bin\resxc.exe", "nmake bin\fslex.exe" and "nmake bin\fsyacc.exe".

After the build completes, the assemblies are ready, but they are built as delay-signed targets.

Note that the license agreement prohibits redistribution of these rebuilds, i.e. these assemblies, once built, should not be redistributed (even if you want to declare, "hey, look, I'm running F# 2.1.0.2").

This build process has been tested against the F# 1.1.9.2 distribution.
