Participation
Participation in this project is in a number of forms, most notably as Authors and Testers. All are invited, but be certain that your level of competence in your role contributes to this project as it will be high-profile. F# and C# skills are necessary. The first phase (over a few iterations) of Reflector will be written in C# and therefore, C# skills to help complete this effort will be useful.

Authors are those who are willing to work on the code base for the F# addin and provide for advancement of the code.

Testers are anyone willing to use Reflector with this F# addin and perform any testing.

Scope
This project will be a community project. During incubation, this project is available only to hubFS members.

The first phase of this project is to complete work necessary to Reflect F# code (as close to the F# specification as possible, 70% of elements/constructs is the likely goal of this phase).

When an agreed upon iteration provides the functionality that is needed, and The Hub is past incubation, this project will be released in binaries form to the general public.

The second phase of this project is to Reflect the F# addin to F# and complete the source code for this addin as a complete F# project.

Upon completion of phase two, the source and binaries will be made available to the general public.

Objectives
To provide a means for those who want to discover F# in their current code in other languages.

Caution
This tool will not be released "in the wild" at a minimum until "go live". This is an F# Tools Competence project which means that it should not be released as a "How to" or a "demo" of F#, but rather as a working piece of software. Please see Scope for details.

Approach
This project will initially be somewhat disorganized. The hope is to provide for some level of discipline in versioning, repository, automated testing, etc. on The Hub. As these facilities at the moment are non existent (but hopefully will be on their way soon), the code will appear as an attachment to posts on this forum. Instructions for attachments will be included with each post.

Motivations
Everyone reflects code in .NET. Lutz Roeder's Reflector is the most popular of the tools out there and is free. People that are unfamiliar with F# will now have an opportunity to "reflect back and forth between their favorite languages" in .NET.

I personally would like to thank Lutz Roeder (no, he's not on The Hub) for providing basic information and source code to get this project organized. Nota Bene: Lutz has provided to me one of the original, obfuscated portions of the Reflector code base, csharpLanguage.cs. The model for the F# addin work is based on that source and I have been instructed NOT to distribute the original file in any form. You will not see a copy of csharpLanguage.cs in any of these works. If there are questions on implementation pertaining to that file, those requests should be made through me and I'll comment or contribute appropriately.
