Future expansion to F# to fslib or mllib
f#

A quick query,
are there any plans for future expansion to the F# libraries.

Sorry to be continually making Haskell comparisions... but Haskell does have, for example, a pretty huge collection of very useful list functions for example, and I do find myself having to write them from scratch in F# programs.

Obviously we can't have everything we'd ever want in there but it would be nice to have a few more. So are the libraries closed or is there some scope for submitting code and requests for functions to be included

here's something I recently would have found useful to have pre-defined

Definitely not closed - we're absolutely open to suggestions! We'll add a work item to do a trawl of the Haskell list library.

I would also like to give MLLib-style modules for some of the .NET 2.0 collections, e.g. ResizeArray, which would give functions to manipulate System.Collections.Generic.List<T> values (I wish they hadn't called it 'List'!!)

BTW do you prefer the name "ResizeArray" or "AutoArray" (or are you a pure functional programmer who would never touch such imperative kryptonite :-))

Is is possible for code to be submitted to you and if so, what license would it need to be under? I'm sure you have you work cut out for you without having to trot out trivial list manipulation functions.

ResizeArray sounds better... AutoArray doesn't give any indication as to what's automatic.

I can just about live with doing morally questionable things in F#, as long as Haskell doesn't notice what I'm doing behind it's back.

Hi DeeJay,

Just the suggested name and signature of the functions is enough - we can write the code, and we need to add tests cases to our test suite and write teh XMLDoc help in any case.

We do need our core F# implementation to be Microsoft-authored. One way for students to contribute code is to come and do an internship with us
