About the first one: When I use arrows in linux with FSI I can't "go back" or "go forward" to fix a typo (is this what you mean?). But this also happened in cygwin.

Using FSI from emacs shell eliminates the problem.

Yes, exactly. Also, "up" and "down" to scroll previously entered FSI code does not work. I have been wanting to learn emacs for a while. Now is probably a good time to start. :)
