Directory Move error - System.IO.IOException: Access to the path ... is denied

I have an application that copies files to directories, but it sometimes fails with the below error

Creating directory "C:\\... API.1"

If I try to delete the offending folder using explorer, I get the message "Cannot remove folder ... It is being used by another person or program."

I can only delete the folder by closing out of Visual Studio.

The error appears to be the result of a Directory.Move command. Is there a way to clear any resources associated with the command whether it completes or not? The Pickering book shows a Dispose method, but this doesn't seem to be available for Directory.Move

My code looks like this:

    try Directory.Move  (orig_dir, new_dir)
    with :? System.IO.IOException -> printfn "move failed"

Also I'm just getting started with .Net exceptions, is there a better way to do this?

Is it possible that an object is left open in your interactive session? See if #quit;; also solves the problem.
