You'll probably get a more helpful reply from others here. I'm using VS 2008 for F#, not the 2010 Beta. These should be functionally identical; but there may be some installation differences. It looked (from your post), like you might be new to Visual Studio, and .Net. If that's true, you're taking on quite a bit. Expect some issues you run into to be more related to VS and .Net installation and configuration, than directly to F#. You're also using a Beta version of the IDE, so that might send a few more curve-balls your way. A good way to start clearing those hurdles is to search these forums for similar posts and replies.

One thing to keep in mind, is that F# is a work in progress. You've come in at a time where things should be pretty much set for the March 2010 production release; but much of what you'll see in posts, articles, blogs, webcasts, etc..., was based on earlier releases.

For F# Interactive, try selecting a line of F# code in any text file (I don't think it has to be an F# source or script file - so you don't need to worry about F# projects for the moment); then right-click to bring up a context menu. You should see two options: send selection to interactive, send line to interactive. Choosing either should send the selected F# code to the interactive window - which should appear, even if you had not be able to see it prior to this. Once you've brought it up, it should remain available.
