Nice. Will have a closer look at it

Hi Justin,

It's a nice implementation of this, but your not the only one to have this idea. Tomas P has his web tool kit project for a while, but doesn't seem to have done much work on it recently:

IntelliFactory have done a lot of work on there WebSharper project and it makes this concept work really well. It's a comercial product but well worth having a look at as the implementation is really slick and it includes a DSL for generating HTML:

Hi Rob,

I've known about those implementations since the beginning of the project. There are a couple of things I'm not a huge fan of in both of them. It looks like they both have a sizeable learning curve, and they both seem tied to webforms (correct me if I'm wrong), which I dislike quite a bit.

In the end though I had an itch to scratch, so that's what I did. The learning curve on this project is hopefully fairly light, and it can be used for multiple tasks; in browser scripting, and potentially scripting against a database like MongoDB.

Yep, it's true that WebSharper is integrated to webforms, but it's done in such a way that you don't have to use much of the webforms framework if you don't want to. It's true that there is a bit of a learning curve with websharper but I was impressed with what you could do with it.

Anyway, shall definitely be taking a closer look at your project too. I guess it's often useful to have a few different competing implemenations.

Cheers,

Rob
