I'm new to f# (really, to functional programming in general) and I want to do it right. Learn from good samples, rather than the bad samples that litter the web. In order to learn some f#, I thought I would write the beginnings of a code parser (only a bit of basic implementation, to get my hand in.) I've been told repeatedly that f# is fantastic for parsing.

I was hoping someone had a link (or could hack up) a good example of a parser that will show me how I should be structuring such a program at the same time.

I've tried to put something together a few times over this weekend and it seems like I should be using

use file = System.IO.File.OpenText(fileName)
while not file.EndOfStream do yield file.ReadLine()
}
way of reading the files, to read line by line, rather than loading the whole file, but coming from a non-functional background, I'm utterly oblivious how to use yield loading and still be able to handle detecting the start of an "if", looking for the end brace and putting that into a struct as a functional block. Most of the samples I find of this type of thing seem to load in the whole file for this type of thing.

I hope I managed to explain that in something resembling a readable way...
