RPC not working from FSX when a BaseResource is not present in the FSX

I encountered a strange issue where the RPC calls contained in my FSX file don't work if I do not have any BaseResource defined in the same FSX.

Here's the structure of the app:

  • OwinHost
  • SiteletLib > Composes a Sitelet using ShellPage + WebPartPage
    • ShellPage
    • WebPartPage > Extracted from FSX

In WebPartPage.fsx, if I have a BaseResource in it, all the RPC defined inside WebPartPage.fsx will work.

But if I comment this Resources module, all the RPC will not work and produce an error:

WRN: Assembly binding logging is turned OFF.
To enable assembly bind failure logging, set the registry value [HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Fusion!EnableLog] (DWORD) to 1.
Note: There is some performance penalty associated with assembly bind failure logging.

I have pushed a sample which illustrates my issue https://github.com/Kimserey/ResourceProblem where there are 2 branches identical except one has the Resources module commented.

After a clean build, the RPC calls in the master branch work whereas the RPC calls in the broken-.. branch don’t work.

I can't really understand why I need a resource in order to make the RPC calls work and why is it related.

Can someone help me on that?

I can indeed reproduce this issue. However the application runs correctly when copying your sitelet startup code to the end of the .fsx and running directly with fsi. So the issue is most likely related to the fact that you are running from a different assembly. I am investigating this further.
